Why choose our emerald cut diamond engagement rings?
With access to a wide and ever-changing range of sources, we carry an unrivalled variety of rectangular emerald cut engagement rings from timeless classics to rare, one-of-a-kind finds. We’ve been helping people choose the perfect jewellery for almost 230 years, so you can trust that we know our stuff! Our in-house gemmologists - many of whom have been with us for decades - examine each piece we receive to assess its quality, and we ensure all items are polished to look as good as new once they are sold and sent to their new owner.
Because we specialise in pre-loved jewellery, when you buy from us, not only are you making a more ethical choice, you’ll get great value, too, because we pass our savings on design, materials and VAT down to our customers. Take a look at our blog on 5 reasons choosing pre-owned jewellery is a smarter choice.

How to choose from our emerald cut diamond engagement rings?
Discovering the perfect emerald cut/rectangular cut engagement ring is all about finding the balance between beauty, practicality and personal style - and we’re here to help.
Budget: All of our pre-owned rings offer exceptional value compared to buying new, and with a wide range of prices, it’s easy to find a piece that fits your budget beautifully.
Diamond quality: If diamond quality is your top priority, pay close attention to the clarity, colour, and carat weight. Emerald cuts are known for their elegant, open faceting, which also means they show inclusions more easily than other cuts. So a higher clarity grade can really make a difference. Colour also matters, especially in this cut, as the clean lines can make even slight colour tints more visible. Read our blog on diamond engagement rings for more tips. All of our higher-value pieces are assessed independently and their valuation document (which you’ll receive when you buy the ring) will include information on all of these elements.
Setting and size: If you’re after something you can wear comfortably every day (likely if you’re choosing an engagement ring) a low-profile setting and a smaller stone might be the most sensible choice. Our blog on practical tips for choosing an engagement ring will help.
FAQs
“Emerald” diamond engagement rings are unique because of the “hall of mirrors” effect their stepped facets create. Their design gives them an Art Deco twist and emphasises their clarity more than their sparkle, unlike more faceted stones. Finally, rectangular cut engagement rings have a slightly elongated shape and can be more flattering on the finger than the more usual round options.
The easiest way to find out your ring size is to buy an inexpensive ring sizer online or visit a trusted local jeweller who can measure your wedding finger (traditionally in the West this is the 4th finger on the left hand). Remember that extreme weather/temperatures can affect how your ring fits. Cold weather can make fingers shrink, hot weather can make them swell, so bear this in mind when you’re getting fitted.
This depends on your budget and what you feel you can comfortably afford. We suggest setting a limit and sticking to it. While it’s easy to get swept up in the moment, a meaningful ring doesn’t have to break the bank. Consider payment options like Klarna or Novuna (we offer both) which can provide you with a loan or allow you to spread the cost over time.
Generally, no. However, if you have a design in mind or an alteration you’d like to an existing ring, it’s always worth getting in touch with us at info@charlesfish.co.uk and we’ll do our best to help.
Yes we do! Most rings can be resized on request, so don’t panic if it’s not a perfect fit. The only exception is certain eternity rings, styles with diamonds set all the way around or hollow rings: resizing these can be trickier, so it’s worth double-checking before you buy. We include sizes in all our ring product information and unless we’re sure a ring can’t be made bigger or smaller, we will advise asking about adjustment options available. If you’re unsure, get in touch with us via phone (020 85094 884) or email at info@charlesfish.co.uk with details of the ring you like and we can advise you further.
As a general rule it’s best to clean your ring with warm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush at home, though you may want to consider a professional clean every so often if you notice any build-up or discolouration. Ensure it’s a good fit: if it’s too big it could fall off and get lost. And with this last scenario in mind, it’s a good idea to sort out insurance as soon as you buy it to avoid any pricey mishaps.
