What is classic jewellery?
Classic jewellery is any kind of jewellery which has an ageless quality to it, and which remains popular long after the time it was created. Think of those pieces you can wear and pair for any occasion – from red carpet events to brunch with friends – like simple diamond stud earrings or fine chain necklaces. These are those signature styles for men and women which you can wear pretty much anywhere, whatever stage of life you’re at.
Why choose our classic jewellery?
As our pre-loved classic jewellery comes from many different sources, you’ll find a wide variety of styles and techniques used. In addition, we’re constantly receiving new pieces, so our collections are updated on a weekly basis, meaning there’s always something different to see, either online or in one of our shops. Below are just some of the reasons our customers rave about our classic selection!

Design, styles and quality
Many of our classic jewellery pieces feature timeless designs which are a staple in every women’s jewellery box. They’re versatile enough to work with your office wardrobe or date night outfit. These are those easy to wear and pair desk to dusk essentials you’ll be very happy to have in your jewellery rotation.
You’ll discover elegant craftsmanship, such as detailed beadwork, meshwork, barked textures and patternation. And you’ll find endless enduring motifs, from florals to Greek keys, geometric shapes and leaf outlines.
What’s more, the materials used are high quality. We have listings with yellow, white and rose gold from 9ct to 22ct, as well as premium silver and a range of natural gemstones – diamonds, opals and mother of pearl to name a few.
Polishing and restoration
At Charles Fish, we meticulously polish each item that comes our way. If a piece requires extra attention or repair, we entrust it to one of the top specialists in the region for restoration. This means everything we sell always looks as good as new.
We also ensure that each listing is hallmarked, not only due to legal requirements in the UK for selling gold, silver, platinum, or palladium above a specific weight (although we hallmark all items regardless of weight), but also to provide our customers with confidence in their purchases. If an item arrives without a hallmark, we send it to Birmingham's assay office for testing and certification.

Versatility and cost-effectiveness
Unlike fashion pieces which can look outdated all too quickly, classic jewellery transcends the year or decade of its making. For this reason, it remains popular for gifting and choosing as an heirloom piece which can be passed down through the generations.
You’ll also find that pre-owned classic jewellery is more affordable than buying new. You’ll get great value, high quality pieces for less than a “label” or known brand option.
Sustainability
Our classic jewellery, like all of our collections, is pre-owned, which means it's a sustainable option. That’s because the metals and gemstones used are not newly mined – a practice which is having a catastrophic impact on the environment around the world as well as detrimental human cost.
Because our products are sustainable, we try and make sure other elements of our business are, too. For example, we’re constantly aiming to reduce the amount of plastic in our postage and packaging.
